How is colocation different from a dedicated server?
With colocation, you provide the server hardware and UD provides the rack, power, cooling, security and networking. With a dedicated server, UD provides the entire hardware and management. If you already own hardware or have special spec requirements, colocation fits better; if you want to delegate everything to UD from scratch, a dedicated server is more hassle-free.
Where are UD's data centres? Do they meet international standards?
UD operates multiple Hong Kong data centres in locations such as Tsing Yi and Sha Tin, built to Tier III+ international standards and certified to PCI DSS, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 27001.
Is there an extra charge to move and install servers?
First-time installation and basic moving can be quoted together during the consultation. If you later need Remote Hand (e.g. reboots, cabling, disk swaps), it can be charged per incident or as a monthly fee.
Is the power supply enough to run high-performance servers?
Standard plans range from 1A to 13A, with more available on request. All racks have dual power feeds, N+1 UPS and N+1 generator backup.
If a network or power failure occurs, how quickly is it resolved?
A 99.99% uptime guarantee, monitored by a 24/7 local engineering team. Major incidents are prioritised, and in most cases users won't notice a thing.
Can I enter the data hall myself?
Yes. Entry is by appointment with identity verification, and all access is fully logged and traceable. If visiting in person is inconvenient, you can use Remote Hand to have UD engineers perform operations for you.
Do you offer off-site disaster recovery?
Yes. You can deploy backup servers in another UD data centre and, combined with cloud integration, build a complete high-availability and disaster-recovery architecture.
