What is IPFS, and why Web3 needs it
The InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) is a peer-to-peer distributed file system. Unlike centralised clouds that keep files on a single server, IPFS uses content addressing (CID) to store the same file across many nodes in the network.

Common questions
How is UD IPFS different from a typical pinning service?
Most pinning services are overseas self-serve platforms billed in US dollars. UD IPFS is run by a local Hong Kong team with fixed HKD monthly fees, 24/7 local support and a global CDN-accelerated gateway, and integrates with UD's NFT, BaaS and validator node services.
Are files on IPFS stored permanently?
IPFS uses content addressing, but a file stays available only while a node keeps it pinned. UD's managed pinning keeps your files available long-term. If you stop your subscription, continued availability is no longer guaranteed, so keep your own backups.
Which plan is right for me?

What if I exceed my capacity or bandwidth?
As your project grows past your plan's capacity, bandwidth or requests, you can upgrade to a higher plan or choose a custom plan sized to your needs. Enquire before you hit the limit so we can adjust ahead of time.
What about minimum term and payment?
The minimum term is 6 months. Get 5% off for 1 year and 10% off for 2 years. Payment options follow your quote.
Do I need to know how to run an IPFS node?
No. UD provides a self-serve FTP tool and managed nodes; you just upload files, and the underlying sharding, CIDs and node configuration are handled by UD.
