I ran the same small-business profile through four free "which AI should I use first?" tools on 5 October 2026. One asked 10 questions and promised a monthly savings estimate. One asked three and recommended a tool stack. One scored readiness out of 24. The fourth asked four questions in Cantonese and named a single AI employee. Same business, four very different answers.
That difference is the buying decision. Before you pay for an AI agent, a chatbot or a consultant, you need to know which job to automate first. Free matchers promise to answer that in minutes. This page compares four of them on the same criteria, says where each one falls short, and tells you which to use for which situation.
What is a free AI agent matcher?
A free AI agent matcher is a short online quiz that asks about your business, pain points and current tools, then recommends which AI tool, use case or AI employee to start with. Most take under five minutes, need no account, and are run by vendors or consultants who hope you will continue with them.
That last point is not a criticism. It is the business model, and it shapes the output. A consultant's matcher points to use cases it can implement. A vendor's matcher points to its own products. Knowing who built the quiz tells you how to read the result.
Matchers are different from AI readiness assessments, which score how prepared your team is rather than what to automate. If readiness is your real question, our comparison of free AI readiness assessments from Microsoft, AWS and UD covers that decision.
Which free AI agent matchers are worth comparing in 2026?
Four free matchers stand out for small teams in 2026: AI Agent Quiz, Velocity AI's tool quiz, AI Use Case Finder by Impact First AI, and UD's AI Employee Match. All four are free with no sign-up to start. They differ in question count, output type and who receives your enquiry afterwards.
Key facts at a glance (checked on each live page, 5 October 2026)
--- AI Agent Quiz: free, 10 questions, about 3 minutes, no sign-up. Output is an "AI Readiness Report" with an estimated monthly saving and a ranked action plan. The builder is not named on the landing page.
--- Velocity AI tool quiz: free, the landing page says 3 questions in about 30 seconds (its own page description says 4 questions and 60 seconds). Covers 17 industries such as dental, CPA, law firms and auto dealerships, and recommends from "200+ reviewed tools". Built by Velocity AI Group.
--- AI Use Case Finder: free, no account, optional email to save results. Two parts: 8 behaviour-based readiness questions scored out of 24 across six dimensions, then an industry and pain-point rating that returns matched use cases with implementation tiers. Its sample results show further recommendations behind an "unlock" step. Built by Impact First AI, an Australian consultancy.
--- UD AI Employee Match: free, 4 questions, about 30 seconds, Traditional Chinese interface. Asks your biggest headache, team size, goal and current tools, then names one of four AI employees. A "deploy now" button opens WhatsApp to UD with your answers pre-filled.
How do the four matchers compare on output, effort and follow-up?
The four matchers trade depth for speed. AI Agent Quiz and AI Use Case Finder take longer and return richer reports. Velocity and AI Employee Match finish in about 30 seconds with a single direction. Every one routes you towards its builder afterwards, so judge the follow-up path as carefully as the result.
Output type
AI Agent Quiz gives a savings figure and action plan. Velocity gives a list of named third-party tools. AI Use Case Finder gives a readiness score plus use cases. AI Employee Match gives one role, such as a customer service agent or a document assistant, with a short feature list.
Effort
Velocity and AI Employee Match need well under a minute. AI Agent Quiz needs about three. AI Use Case Finder needs about four for both parts.
Local fit
Only AI Employee Match is written for Hong Kong: its answer options mention WhatsApp message overload, rostering and leave approvals, and "mainly manual work plus WhatsApp" as a current-tools choice. The other three use US or Australian industry lists and assume English-language tools.
What happens next
Velocity and AI Use Case Finder lead into their consulting sites. AI Agent Quiz leads into its report. AI Employee Match leads into a WhatsApp chat with UD's team, which is faster for a local SME but means talking to a vendor immediately.
What you share
None of the four asks for an account to start. AI Use Case Finder asks for an email only if you want to save results. AI Employee Match shares nothing until you tap the WhatsApp button, and then it sends your four answers as a pre-filled message you can edit before sending. That makes it easy to see exactly what the vendor receives.
What does UD's AI Employee Match actually recommend?
UD's AI Employee Match recommends one of four AI employees based on your answers: a customer service agent (CoCo), an operations assistant (OpsBot), a document assistant (DocAI) or a sales follow-up agent (SalesAI). Each result lists five capabilities and links to WhatsApp so UD can discuss deployment.
--- CoCo (customer service): automatic replies to customer enquiries, question triage, instant quotes and complaint handling across WhatsApp and email.
--- OpsBot (operations): rostering, leave approval and expense claims that staff submit through WhatsApp, with reports for managers.
--- DocAI (documents): drafts contracts and quotations, summarises meeting notes, reads PDF and Excel files. UD's page claims this saves 2 to 3 hours of paperwork a day; treat that as UD's own estimate, not an audited figure.
--- SalesAI (sales): follows up every lead, sends scheduled follow-ups, builds personalised quotes and tracks deal progress.
The AI Employee Match is fastest when you already know your problem in plain terms, such as "we cannot reply to WhatsApp fast enough", and want a local team to scope it.
What are the honest limitations of each matcher?
Every free matcher simplifies. AI Employee Match only recommends UD's four roles and shows no price. Velocity and AI Use Case Finder are built around overseas industries. AI Agent Quiz's savings figure is a model estimate. None of them sees your real data, so none can tell you what an agent will actually save.
--- AI Employee Match: four possible outcomes, all UD products, so it is a product router, not a neutral comparison. No pricing, no savings estimate and no downloadable report. Chinese interface only. Going further requires a WhatsApp conversation with sales.
--- Velocity AI quiz: broad third-party tool lists, but the 17 industries are US-style categories, and the question count stated on its own pages is inconsistent.
--- AI Use Case Finder: the most structured method, but its industry groups are broad and some recommendations sit behind an unlock step.
--- AI Agent Quiz: a savings number is persuasive in a budget meeting, but it comes from your self-reported answers and an undisclosed model, and the builder is not named.
The limitation most likely to stop a purchase is the same everywhere: a 30-second quiz cannot price an agent. Expect a real quote only after someone looks at your volumes, systems and data.
Which AI agent matcher should you choose?
Choose by what you need to walk away with. Use Velocity for a neutral list of tools, AI Agent Quiz for a rough savings figure, AI Use Case Finder for a structured readiness and use-case map, and AI Employee Match if you run a WhatsApp-heavy Hong Kong team and want a local deployment conversation quickly.
--- Solo marketer or freelancer comparing apps: Velocity, then test the top two tools yourself.
--- Ops manager building a business case: AI Agent Quiz for the headline number, then validate it with your own task log.
--- Team lead planning a roadmap: AI Use Case Finder, both parts.
--- Hong Kong SME owner drowning in WhatsApp, admin or quotes: AI Employee Match, then ask UD for a scoped quote before committing.
A useful habit: run two matchers, not one. If a neutral tool list and a vendor's recommendation point at the same bottleneck, you have a stronger case for a pilot. If they disagree, that disagreement is the first question to settle with your team.
Whatever you pick, sanity-check the result before you spend money. This prompt works in ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini:
Try this prompt (matcher sanity check):
I run a [team size]-person [industry] business in Hong Kong. A free AI matcher recommended I start with: [paste result].
My three most time-consuming weekly tasks are: [task 1, hours], [task 2, hours], [task 3, hours].
1. Does the recommendation target my biggest time cost? If not, which task should come first and why?
2. List 5 questions I must ask a vendor before buying, including pricing, data storage location and what happens if I cancel.
3. Estimate hours saved per month as a range, and state every assumption you used.
A matcher points you in a direction. Your own task log and a scoped quote decide whether that direction is worth paying for. We understand AI. We understand you better. With UD by your side, AI doesn't feel cold.
